A Pumpkin filled day at Half Pint House, East Sussex.
Celebrate autumn with silky pumpkin soup, crisp rösti & classic pumpkin pie. Seasonal recipes styled & photographed at Half Pint House, East Sussex.
A couple of leftover pumpkins from a recent food photography shoot became the inspiration for a whole day of cooking, styling, and photographing. With autumn settling in, it felt like the perfect excuse to make three seasonal dishes that highlight just how adaptable pumpkins can be, even better that the pumpkins were free. Who doesn’t love a freebee.
Pumpkin Soup – smooth, lightly spiced, and a family favourite through the colder months.
Pumpkin Rösti – golden, crisp and perfect for a lazy Sunday breakfast.
Pumpkin Pie – an American classic that’s rich, custardy, and beautifully spiced.
What I loved most was how this day combined everything I enjoy: working with seasonal produce, styling food, and capturing images that tell a story. It also felt like the perfect way to launch Sizzle & Shoot — where I’ll be sharing recipes alongside my professional food photography work.
To bring these dishes to life, I styled and photographed them against a rich green background. The colour was chosen deliberately — its earthy tones perfectly complimented the warm orange of the pumpkin, creating a contrast that made the food pop on camera. Green also ties beautifully into the season, echoing autumn leaves and garden herbs, while giving the final images a natural, rustic feel.
And because I can never resist, I took a few extra shots along the way, hope you enjoy.
