Volume 3 : Shooting & Styling Pizza

For most of my career, I’ve styled pizzas for some of the biggest pizza brands, Goodfella’s, Just Eat, Franco Manka, Pizza hut,  Pizza express, Yard sale, Zizzi (who I’ve also shot most of their menu) just to name a few — and for the last 10 years I’ve styled the majority of the stills campaigns, TV commercials and social content for Domino’s UK and just shot a TV commercial in Mumbai for the Indian market.

Over the past few years, alongside styling, I’ve been shooting them too — sometimes on location, sometimes in my studio.

Pizza is one of those foods that’s pure theatre on camera. Flash lets me freeze the moment — the gloss on the toppings, the stretch of the cheese, the texture in the crust.

When shooting Pizza, you have to move fast….Pizza waits for no man!
Cheese settles.
Steam fades.
Colour drops and it starts to look cold.

The window where a pizza looks its absolute best is short — and that’s part of the thrill.

Whether it’s for a restaurant menu, a cookbook, or a national campaign, the goal is always the same:
• Keep the crust golden and never washed out
• Let the toppings shine without looking overworked
• Capture the heat and energy of the bake

And most importantly — keep it real.

I love embracing the imperfections.
The blistered crust.
The slightly burnt edges.
The crumbs left where they fall.

That’s what makes it feel honest. That’s what makes people hungry and that’s what sells pizza.

Shooting pizza never gets old and I still make them for the family on a regular basis.
